This is a
great danger often overlooked by people that purchase fake perfumes knowingly.
Perfumes are usually absorbed into the skin and because some of the active
ingredients of fake perfumes include urine(surprised? It is used as a pH
balance), bacteria, antifreeze and some other chemicals. There is tendency for
inflammation of the skin and dermatitis to develop.
A fake
perfume is an exact replica/copy of an original existing perfume, it has the
same visual appearance and comes in the same pack, bottle and branding as the
original. They are now popularly called COPY. The only difference you would
notice between a fake perfume and the original is in the smell and the performance
(longevity and strength). It is targeted at deceiving the buyer into believing
he is getting the Real Deal. These days it is very difficult to differentiate between

How to identify fake perfume
1. Price: I know everyone likes a good bargain but you have got to pay attention to the price point when buying a perfume, for example if you see a full bottle of Chanel perfume that is under 20,000, my brother run for ya life!!! Sometimes these low prices are hidden under the guise of discount. When you see someone giving outrageous discounts, you should be suspicious about the authenticity. Usually when something looks too good to be true, then it really is too good to be true.

3. Check the bottle after opening: The quality of the bottle can be an indication that the perfume is a fake. Is the bottle made of glass and heavy or if it is made of cheap light weight plastic? Original perfumes are packaged with high quality bottles that are fine and smooth. Also notice the cap, are they tight fitting to avoid spilling.
4. Check the text on the box before opening it: Pay close attention to the text to see if there are any grammatical blunders or misspelling. Also notice the fonts, the fake are usually slightly different from the original
5. The smell: This should be obvious. If you have used that particular perfume in the past then you should be able to notice a difference, if there is any. Does this new batch smell like what you have used in the past? If you have never used the perfume before then you need to pay attention to notice if it smells off.

7. Longevity: Authentic perfumes will last longer than the fake in terms of everyday use (How many hours it lasts per wear). Longevity could also be veiwed in terms of how long it retains the quality of smell without deteriorating after the bottle has been opened. Most fake perfumes will lose their scent in a matter of weeks or a couple of months(6 months), while an original perfume bottle would not start deteriorating after opening till the 6th-18th month
